he increase in agricultural production directly depends on the quality of seed. Seeds of appropriate
characteristics are required to meet the demand of diverse agro-climatic conditions and intensive
Tcropping system. The basic concept behind this programme is to develop a system which will ensure
the timely supply of quality seeds to farmers at reasonable rates. To ensure the availability of quality
seeds among the farmers, our endeavour is to produce high yielding varieties of the same to gear up the
condition of marginals and help lead the country to sufficiency.

During the year 2016-17, Divyayan KVK, in collaboration with the Govt. of Jharkhand had formed 25 seed
villages where the farmers were provided with necessary skill and inputs to produce paddy seed. During
2017-18, under this programme 542 qtl paddy seeds, during 2018-19, 473.5 qtl paddy seeds, 75 qtl Kulthi,
50qtl Nizer and 60 qtls of lentil seeds and during 2019-20, 300 qtl paddy seeds, 65qtl nizer seeds and
60qtl horsegram seeds were produced by the farmers of the above said 25 villages. The produced seeds
were procured by the National Seed Corporation, Ranchi from farmers.
Divyayan KVK itself has been optimally using its demonstration farm for the production of seeds and
planting materials for the farmers of Ranchi district. Certified seeds were also produced in the farmers’
field by providing them foundation seeds and technical guidance.
During the reporting period seeds of different crops and varieties were produced from our demonstration
farms as well as by the farmers under Seed Village Programme as per the details given below to make
them available to farmers and Govt. of Jharkhand for further distribution :
