JTDS Sponsored Apiary Project

eeping in view of potential of production of
Honey in the State of Jharkhand, Divyayan
KKrishi Vigyan Kendra in collaboration with
Jharkhand Tribal Development Society (JTDS)
launched an Apiary Project with an objective
of providing training on Scientific Apiculture to
500 tribal youths and to provide each of them
with 5-5 Honey boxes along with bee colony
to start their micro enterprise so that they can
earn an additional amount of Rs. 3000 to 4000
per year. This activity would also help in better
pollination in different crops which would in
turn enhance their crop productivity.
Beneficiaries During Training on Bee-keeping
During the reporting period 453 tribal youths
from 90 villages of 4 districts viz Khunti,
Latehar, Lohardaga and Ranchi were provided
training. After the training they were also
provided with bee boxes, stand, bee colonies,
feeder, sulphur powder and sugar(to be used
during dearth period). So far 251 beneficiaries
have been provided with 1240 Italian bee
colonies with boxes and 10 local bee colonies
with boxes. The rest of the beneficiaries will be
covered during the year 2020-21.
In future all the honey producers will be linked
with a FPO, for ensuring easy marketing and
better price of their produce. Distribution of Input
