perception components and background characteristics in determining the vaccine acceptance. The
perception components include severity, susceptibility to COVID-19 and the benefits, barriers and self-
efficacy to the COVID-19 vaccination. Socio-economic, demographic and existing morbidity factors are
also considered as background characteristics. It uses survey questionnaire in electronic format and
collected the information through online survey that done between July 22-September 22, 2021 from
the students who enrolled with various universities in Tamil Nadu. The study employed Chi-squared test,
Component factor analysis and Binary logistic regression for the statistical analysis.
The descriptive analysis shows that 90% of students expressed their willingness to COVID-19 vaccination
acceptance. The Chi-Squared analysis shows that the COVID-19 vaccine acceptance has an association
with the current course and year of education of the students, their geography of living, employment,
household income and the status of at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccination. Factor analysis shows
that the students’ perceptions such as benefit and efficacy of COVID-19 vaccine is prominent factor
followed by barriers to access the vaccine factor in determining vaccine acceptance. The binary logistic
regression analysis shows that, the students who are in the initial year of their course and who have
at least one COVID-19 vaccination have high probability to take the vaccine than others. Similarly, the
students’ perception about the benefit and efficacy of vaccine has a positive impact upon the probability
of vaccine acceptance. But the probability to accept the COVID-19 vaccination is negatively dependent
upon the students’ perception about the accessibility barriers. The study suggests the relevance of
awareness about the COVID-19 vaccine benefits and also the need to ensure the students to access it.

ABSTRACT
Introduction: Family planning program has evolved and repositioned to not only achieve population
stabilization but also to promote reproductive health and reduce maternal, infant & child mortality and
morbidity.
Objectives: This study was conducted to determine the socio demographic profiles of beneficiaries
receiving family planning services and to find out the association between variables of socio demographic
profile and use of contraceptives.
Methodology: This hospital-based cross sectional study was carried out among the beneficiaries of
family planning, in department of Obstetrics &Gynecology, RIMS, Ranchi, for a period of three months.
Consecutive sampling technique was adopted to select the study participants and was interviewed using
a pre tested semi structured questionnaire. Collected data was entered in MS Excel sheet and data was
analyzed using SPSS software version 20.
Result: A total of 120 participants were included in this study. Majority (80.5%) subjects who were under
30 years preferred spacing methods whereas more than a half (58.6%) of subjects above 30 years of age
went for permanent methods. Association between type of residence and contraceptive use was found
to be statistically significant.
Conclusion: Based on the result it was concluded that use of different spacing methods are less in
illiterates as compared to educated ones, male sterilization is least used contraceptive method, urban
population were using spacing methods more than rural population. Awareness should be created at
regular interval to increase its use.
Key words: Family planning services, beneficiaries and its utilization.
